Beaches

The range of coastlines in Spain is unmatched in all of Europe and combined with the warm weather and stable Spanish climate, you’ve got the recipe for absolutely perfect beach days.

From sunbathing on popular urban beaches to unwinding on an isolated stretch of warm, shimmering sand, the beaches in south-eastern Spain are some of the best in the world.

Playa Marques

A vast expanse of fine sand stretching as far as the eye can see, gently lapped by the clean, clear waters of the Mediterranean.

The closest beach to Ambera, this is El Playazo: the grand beach of the Almanzora. It covers 7km of the coast in total, down from the mouth of the Rio Almanzora and Boca del Rio beach in Villaricos, all the way to the idyllic harbour town of Garrucha.

The Beaches at Villaricos

The village sits at the very top of El Playazo, and is connected by the Boca del Rio beach which spans the mouth of the Almanzora River. Villaricos has several historical and breathtaking beaches along its seafront, all within a few minutes’walk.

Mojácar

Mojácar offers many opportunities for the eager beach enthusiast. Over 17 kilometres of gently curving Mediterranean coastline, many of Mojacar’s beaches have well-maintained seaside promenades with direct car access.

Explore untouched natural beaches beneath volcanic mountainsides, sandy shores near the Rio Aguas delta, and secluded naturist spots reachable by a short hike through incredible mountain scenery.

Garrucha

The nearby fishing village Garrucha has a harbour beach. The water here is extremely calm thanks to the breakwater, making it the perfect destination for short and long swims in the ocean.

The inviting promenade has several restaurants and bars and is a very popular place to take a stroll, eat lunch or just stop for a drink or homemade ice cream.

Los Muertos

Los Muertos has the clearest, bluest water of the Cabo de Gata Nature Reserve. Added to the crystal-white sand, this beach is a dream come true.

Access to this beach is not easy, and unsuitable for small children or people with mobility issues. It is accessible only by two paths. One of these is 700m long from the information point, with a significant slope. The other path starts at the end of the parking area, but while it is only 600m, the slope is much steeper.
