I read an incredible article recently, written by Gudrun Rygg in Bergensavisen (The Bergen News). In it, she wrote about herself, her friends, and their experiences of getting older in Norway. About how our living situations isolate us from others, and why providing services (and access to those services) are among the most important things we can do to improve peoples’ lives.

Just as we are not meant to be alone all of the time, we are not supposed to be social all of the time – that too is something that few of us need, that few of us want, and that even fewer of us could actually accomplish! But the opportunity to greet and chat with friends, acquaintances, or entirely new faces doesn’t just bring us closer together, it keeps us healthier in both body and soul.
