Our inspiration: The Ambera dream was born in Sun City

Unsere Inspiration: Der Ambera-Traum wurde in Sun City geboren

Ever since I visited an active adult community in America for the first time back in 1995 and saw how happy people were there, I’ve been working on the Ambera concept in my mind. “I’m going to build something like that one day” I thought to myself. A couple of years ago, the pieces of the puzzle finally fell into place and thanks to the tireless efforts of my team and encouragement from our community, we’re finally realising my dream.

I’d like to take a minute to tell you a little bit about Sun City, the community i visited for the first time almost 25 years ago. It’s one of the most successful active adult community concepts in America and it’s one that inspires us.

Sun City opened its doors on January 1st, 1960, with five home models, a shopping center, a recreation center, and a golf course. The opening weekend drew 100,000 people, ten times more than expected, and resulted in a Time magazine cover story.

The future retirement community was built on the site of the former ghost town of Marinette and became a retirement paradise for Americans in search of an affordable way to live a rich life.  “Live like a millionaire on a retirement budget” became the company slogan. The affordable houses was made possible by the principle economists call “economy of scale” – the more houses you build, the lower the cost per household.

Developer Del Webb expanded Sun City over the years, and his company went on to build retirement communities all over the country. While Sun City inspires us, we’re building Ambera our way. The way you’ve told us that you want it – open, active and full of opportunity.
