What can I expect, living at Ambera?

Your house, apartment, or villa is yours, just like any other privately-owned property. Though we believe in the value of sharing experiences with other people, Ambera is not a commune. Our properties are built to high standards, but priced reasonably and affordably.

2. An active, social, healthy lifestyle

Our communities offer a wide variety of opportunities for getting active, exploring new interests, picking up skills, and socialising with like-minded people. Ambera’s shared facilities are housed in dedicated buildings, and are designed to make day-to-day life more fulfilling for everyone, and simplify life for families with children. This is a completely new way to live – without living on top of each other.

3. Social and recreational areas

Residents at Ambera have free access to an array of shared facilities, such as social spaces, fitness suites, recreational areas, and more. Activities available will vary dependent on which Ambera community you choose, but common to all is that while we arrange some activities, many will be started and run by residents. The Activity Centre is the heart of every Ambera community, and everything is covered by the monthly amenities fee.

4. A single fee covers everything

The monthly amenities fee covers access to all shared buildings and activities, the services of the Lifestyle Director, as well as maintenance of all public areas and external property maintenance.

5. Helpful and knowledgeable on-site staff

Our Lifestyle Directors and other on-site staff can help you organise and plan trips and events, and otherwise make the best of Ambera. For example, they can help you find your perfect Spanish teacher, or personal trainer. We have developed an app for all Ambera residents, so you can see all the exciting things happening today for yourself.

6. Safe and secure from start to finish

Our partner DLA Piper is the world’s largest law firm, and has offices all over Europe. They will advise you on any and all legal and procedural questions you may have about buying your new home, and what your rights are. Living at Ambera, you are safe 24 hours a day, and our staff will help you in the unfortunate event you need to contact any health or other emergency services.

Ambera is Norwegian-owned, Norwegian-designed, and will be built for Norwegians and Europeans, but is inspired by successful projects in the USA. Similar concepts to ours have existed across the Atlantic since the 1960s. We went there to learn from them – and you can take a look, too!

What Makes Ambera Unique

Ambera is a new name for a new way of living that we are generating in the Ambera communities that we will build. The name works internationally and contains elements from “amber”, which has a warm gold-brown colour and is used as a gem in jewellery which is said to have healing effects – something which we think reflects Ambera’s vision.

At Ambera, we believe that residents, not visitors, make a community. Our homes will be built to be used for longer periods than a typical holiday – because establishing an active, social community needs people who actually live in the community. Normal holiday homes are only used or rented for a few days or weeks through the year, and most people are not interested in getting to know the neighbours or be a part of the community during their stay. These types of community tend to turn into “ghost towns” during the low season – and we think there are enough of those already.

Ambera’s concept and design will reflect the fact that they are long-term properties. Holiday properties normally have as many beds and bedrooms as possible, little (if any) storage space, and small, cramped living areas.

Ambera’s homes will have plentiful storage options, spacious living areas, and functional rooms useful for longer stays. They will be places we would want to live ourselves.

As an owner

You get your own, privately-owned, house or apartment. This property is yours, and can be sold, inherited, financed, and otherwise used at your discretion. Community rules and rules for renting your property, etc. will be published when we launch sales. The low, monthly amenities fee covers external maintenance of all properties – to keep your property in good condition, and so you don’t have to worry about it. It also covers landscaping and maintenance of all shared facilities.

Ambera Desert Springs – benefits

A reduced fee for use of sports facilities: Golf on the Desert Springs PGA-course, paddle tennis, tennis and exercise room.

Pools are available at no extra expense.

Access to the Club House. Desert Springs restaurants are open to all Ambera members.

Through Ambera’s low monthly community fee, you are granted free access to and use of shared common areas – first and foremost, an Activity Centre with more than 1,000 sqm, where several rooms are dedicated to activities such as:

  • All-purpose rooms for workshops, games, painting, classes, yoga, etc. – or anything you want to do
  • Common rooms for mingling and just meeting your friends
  • Community Kitchen where you can invite friends to a gourmet dinner or cooking class
  • Music room for dancing, theatre group, or watching movies together
  • Cafe

Our goal is to make Ambera affordable for as many people as possible – not just the wealthiest. That said, the costs of buying a home and costs of living will depend on where the project is, and how many homes it will have. Places near the sea cost more than places further inland, while large communities cost less per household, because there are more residents to share the costs of facilities.

Ambera Desert Springs, our first project, is near the sea. Many of our followers and future residents said this was important to them, and we listened. However, this means that the cost of our first project could be higher than projects we will launch later. Final prices at Ambera Desert Springs will be available in Spring 2021.
